El Esteco 2024 Malbec, Cafayate Valley, Salta, Argentina ($25)

Ripe and juicy with spiced cedar and cassis. Notes of oregano and plum merge for a deeply satisfying red.

Elizabeth Rose 2024 Chardonnay, Yountville AVA, Napa Valley ($25)

Those who shy away from pushy Chardonnays will find themselves gently escorted by this very restrained rendition. The apple and peach fruit notes are clearly recognizable but very subtle, and the barely discernable oak accents follow suit, resulting in a balanced presentation.

Elizabeth Rose 2024 Pinot Noir, Yountville AVA, Napa Valley ($25)

Pinot from Napa Valley made from organic grapes for $25 seems too good to be true, and that guess would be correct for those who want notable muscle even from this variety. However, those who turn to Pinot for restraint and light body suitable for delicate foods will find those virtues in this light take.

Elk Cove 2024 Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley, OR ($22)

Pure fruit notes recalling pears and Golden apples are very pleasant. Although it is a bit simple, it is also simply delicious.

93

Elk Cove 2024 Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, OR ($34)

This is a Pinot that deftly walks the line between subtlety and sweet fruitiness. Red berry and cherry flavors stand at center stage, with a faint whiff of oak spice lending complexity along with a tender tug of tannin that frames the finish.

91

Elouan 2024 Chardonnay, Oregon ($20)

Medium-bodied with nice freshness, it shows substance and a fleshy texture on the palate. Entirely barrel-fermented but not overtly oaky, it offers flavors that are clean but not simple. Still nicely fresh from the 2023 vintage, this is very attractively packaged and priced.

Elouan 2024 Pinot Noir, Oregon ($25)

Ripe and open aromas and flavors akin to dark cherry and pomegranate are very appealing in this wine, which offers good depth and length without any hint of textural hardness. A touch of fruity sweetness will make this broadly popular.

89

Five Arrow by Monson Ranch 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon, Goose Gap AVA, Columbia, WA ($12)

Gritty tannins showcase melted chocolate-covered peanuts. Big boy notes of blackberry and espresso take hold on the finish.
