StarWine Cellars 2023 Curious Chardonnay, Petaluma Gap, Sonoma Cty. ($32)

With ample body and quite good depth of flavor, this is a “showy” Chardonnay that pulls up short of seeming overblown. Ripe fruit notes recalling poached peaches are nicely balanced by an undertone of toasty oak. With just enough acidity to achieve balance, this will be at its best if served fully chilled.

StarWine Cellars 2023 Curious Pinot Noir, Petaluma Gap, Sonoma Cty. ($42)

A surprisingly weighty Pinot from an appellation known largely for its relatively cool climate, this clocks in at 15.4% alcohol. That is manifested much more as sweetness and richness than overtly alcoholic heat, and an ample dose of spicy oak works well with the wine’s weight. A touch of wood tannin provides beneficial firmness in the finish.

Stoneleigh 2025 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand ($18)

Thyme and lentil season crisp notes of grapefruit, gooseberry, and Granny Smith apple. Acidity reins in its underlying richness, but still remaining lively from start to finish.

Storyteller 2023 Summer Camp Chardonnay, Sonoma County ($15)

Caramel apple, lemon-kissed cedar, and crisp acidity forge a rich bond, with a mouthwatering finish.

Ten to Life 2024 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County ($25)

Sleek and edgy with salty minerality and an abundance of vibrant honeyed notes: apples, gardenia, and Mandarin oranges, with a flowing, searing acidity.

Ten to Life 2024 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County ($30)

Earthy and intense, with tobacco, coffee beans, and barrel oak notes. The mouthfeel is suede-like, with mid-point flavors of wild strawberry and black tea. An indulgent sipper.

Tenuta di Fessina 2022 “Erse” Etna Rosso D.O.C., Sicily, Italy ($27)

This Nerello Mascalese shows striking minerality and an herb garden of basil, white pepper, and oregano. A flood of juicy cherries and blackberries match up with subtle notes of rose petals and clove. Tannins are seductively edgy and sidle up with a vivid acid structure.

Textbook 2025 Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley, Sonoma Co. ($21)

An outstanding white, with bright aromas of salted lime and vanilla bean. Juicy melon, mango, and honeycomb flood the palate offering a sensual, leesy mouthfeel, while acidity is its shining star. Fermented in stainless steel, with additional barrel fermentation in neutral French oak.
