Morgan 2024 Highland Chardonnay, Santa Lucia Highlands ($30)

Polished wines aren’t always fun, and fun wines aren’t always polished. This one happens to check both boxes. On the nose, pineapple, cantaloupe, and mandarin orange mingle brightly with hints of clove and ginger, while the palate—broad and billowy but not in the least overblown—hums with judicious acidity, pops of nectarine, and a finish that echoes the aromatic profile, bringing things full-circle.

My Favorite Neighbor 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles ($50)

Aged 20 months in 55% new French oak, this amiable red offers a welcoming perfume of crushed cherries and mocha. Intensely ripened, white-peppered boysenberry networks with Italian herbs, soy sauce, graphite, and licorice. Minerality weaves into sweet soil, maintaining a plush, desirable mouthfeel.

My Favorite Neighbor 2023 Chardonnay, Paso Robles ($40)

Bottled by Booker Vineyards, Director of Winemaking Pete Turrone sources fruit from Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, and Edna Valley to create a stunning Chardonnay that offers aromas of peanut brittle and ripe pineapple. Rich, complex, and opulent, with lemon curd, honeysuckle, and chilled apricot. A steely mid-palate further alerts the senses, leaving space for the crisp citrus notes to emerge on the finish.

Myles & Moore 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles ($13)

With the limestone soils of Paso Robles, chalky tannins gather as a gateway to precious notes of dark cherry and bittersweet chocolate. Rich, beefy, and inviting, it bathes the palate in layers of spiced berries.

91

Needle & Thread 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon, California ($15)

Ripe and ready, with smashed blackberry, black currant, bittersweet dark chocolate, and licorice. Hearty and well-seasoned with baking spices and mulled plums.

92

Needle & Thread 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley ($20)

A youthful expression, with spiced plum and sage. Frisky acidity lightens its mood, creating a superb, food-friendly red.

Nick Goldschmidt BOULDER BANK 2025 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborouogh, New Zealand ($18)

Carrying a grassy, grapefruity, and apricot perfume, this single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc had us entranced at first nosing. Notes of pomelo, oregano, and lime chiffon are vibrant, glistening with salinity and mineral gem tones.

Ocean Road 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon, South Eastern Australia ($9)

The black currant dominates a nose trimmed with roses and a hint of potting soil. This is an irresistible wine of increasing allure with each taste. These are market-fresh strawberries and pie crust and raspberry. This is pure pleasure with seamless levity and a self-assured firmness and finish.
