South Africa has lots of Cinsault planted, and though this mostly Mediterranean blending grape doesn’t have a lofty worldwide reputation, its capacity for producing elegant varietal reds suddenly made it a darling among South Africans about a decade ago. This is a terrific example at a great price. Vibrant red fruit notes recalling cherries and raspberries are irresistible (go ahead and try), with wonderfully balanced acidity and light tannins. Terrific anytime but ideal with a light chill during summer.
