Wine Reviews

90

Red Sun 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles ($20)

Ripe, brooding black fruit melds with espresso and graphite. Tannins are suede textured and gentle on the palate, despite the rich, robust profile of the wine.

89

Ryder Estate 2023 Chardonnay ($15)

Pale yellow color, with flavors of bright green apple, baked pear, and citrus. Fresh, Bright, and lively on the palate; medium bodied with bright acidity. Enjoyable for its exuberant fruit notes, straightforward clean, easy drinking styled Chardonnay.

91

Ryder Estate 2023 Chardonnay ($15)

The fruit behind this wine was clearly picked at the right time, resulting in a medium-bodied Chardonnay with fine balance between fruit and acidity. Getting these fundamentals right is the key to the wine’s success, but it also shows faint but attractive oak accents that make this more than just a “solid” everyday wine. Very skillfully wrought.

92

Sakeberto Junmai – 720ML ($20)

Unctuous mouthfeel, with notes of tapioca, marzipan, and melting honeysuckle petals. White chocolate surrounds the palate. Dressing up lemon blossom and chamomile.

93

Sakeberto Junmai Ginjo – 300ML ($13)

Fragrant and elegant, this mouth filling sake offers notes of white-peppered lime, white jasmine rice, pine nuts and fresh herbs. Crisp and dry.

91

Seaglass 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon, Central Coast ($15)

Plush texture, with spiced cedar, clove, and blackberry. A savory tone rings through mid-palate, with tobacco and licorice striking a harmonious chord. 91

Seaglass 2022 Pinot Noir, Central Coast ($15)

Aromas of soil and wet leaves are a testament to Central Coast terroir – as are the flavors of black cherry, sweet tobacco, and cinnamon-cola.

91

Seaglass 2022 Riesling, Central Coast ($13)

Classic aromas of beeswax are followed by sumptuous notes of pineapple nectar, apricot, and a sea-breeze of saltiness on the finish.
