Talley Vineyards 2019 Rosemary’s Chardonnay, Arroyo Grande Valley, San Luis Obispo County ($65)
Rosemary’s Vineyard is planted on shaly loam (as opposed to Rincon’s Los Osos Diablo Clay) and is aged 14 months sur lie in 32% new French oak. Burgundian in style, with buttered pecan and lemon chiffon, which is accentuated by a fine acid structure. Caramel and cedar notes are amplified on mid-palate, leading to a long aftertaste of banana and pineapple. 94
