Eight & Sand Blended Bourbon Whiskey, USA
The newest member of MGP Ingredients’ Rack House Series, this 88-proof blended bourbon is named for the eighth (and fastest) notch on a locomotive’s throttle as well as the sand used on the wheels to prevent slipping. (It’s crafted in Lawrenceville, Indiana, and Atchison, Kansas, the home of E&S Locomotive 811.) A composed and elegant nose of warmed toffee, peaches, and candied almonds sets the stage for a palate enveloped in a sheath of velvet richness, nougat, and a hint of minerality that licks the tongue.
