Nick & Toni's, located in East Hampton, NY, has recently introduced a new item to its brunch cocktails called "The Board." With the trend of do-it-yourself cocktails growing, this Hamptons hot spot is now leading the pack in the area by introducing its version of the DIY Bloody Mary bar.
Food & Beverage Director Richard Scoffier came up with the idea after visiting a sports bar in Colorado offering a Bloody buffet. He loved the idea of DIY and giving guests freedom of creation. And with so many elements to create with, the Bloody Mary is the perfect cocktail for this concept.
"The Board" is a drink, a snack and an activity. It also has the advantage that if a customer feels his or her Bloody doesn't have quite enough horseradish, or needs some extra kick from hot sauce, they can make it just right, without having to send their drink back to the bar. And who doesn't want a mozzarella ball in their drink?
There's also a story behind the ingredients. The pickled ramps were made in house from this spring's ramp harvest and Scoffier will be rotating in pickled green garlic from the garden. The pickles and olives come from Horman's Best Pickles, which can be found at the farmer's markets all over New York and the Hamptons.
Guests have been enjoying everything included on The Board, and Scoffier plans a rotation of items. On the horizon are some cured meats, different cheeses and housemade hot sauces.
