Anthony Head (aka The Armchair Oenophile) will be corresponding regularly from the best barstool available in his favorite drinking establishments throughout Texas and beyond. Sidle up and get cozy . . . it's going to be a long night.


To quote David Wondrich on Anvil: "You won't find a better drink anywhere in America."

To quote the bartenders who answer the phone at Anvil: "Anvil, home of The Brave." (The Brave is Anvil's signature cocktail. It's made of mezcal, sotol, amaro, curaçao, and a mist of Angostura Bitters, all elegantly presented—with a flamed orange zest garnish—in a tall Bordeaux-style glass.)

To quote myself after tasting The Brave at Anvil: "I don't feel worthy of this drink. I think it's simply too good for me."
