We Stick Our Noses into the U.K.'s Craft Gin Boom

Britain has never seen anything like it—well, not since the 1750s that is, and few of us remember the original Gin Craze.

But gin is very definitely the spirit of the age once again, with premium brand sales growing fast and any number of craft distillers opening their doors, attracted by gin's sexy new fashionable image.

In fact, the U.K. government's Customs & Revenue service says it has been overwhelmed by applications for small-scale distilling licences. Despite revised staff training procedures having been put in place the time taken for approval has been extended: bad luck for those fledging operations hoping to apply in the near future.
