U.S. Market the New Focus for Camus Cognac

The last great independent, family-owned cognac house, Camus has been managed by five generations since its 1863 foundation. Today employing 200 persons and the world's fifth largest cognac company, the house is managed by 39-year-old President and General Manager Cyril Camus, who follows his forefathers' philosophy of quality, tradition, and innovation, and is now delighted to enter the U.S. market.

Currently sold in over 140 countries and on-board 50 international airlines, Camus is the number three cognac in Korea, and number four in Japan.  With offices in Cognac, Bordeaux, London, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Ho Chin Min City and now Palm Beach, Camus shares the world stage with the big multinationals, successfully competing through ongoing innovation; for example, Camus was the first brand to market its cognac in a frosted bottle.

The U.S. charge is being lead by Emmanuel (Manny) Burnichon, the company's U.S. Market Sales Director. Mr. Burnichon is first focusing on the Camus distribution network, which at this point includes exclusive distribution partnerships with Premier Beverage in Florida; Wine Warehouse in California; Stoller Wholesale Wines & Spirits in Illinois; Rhode Island Distributing Company in Rhode Island; Perfecta in New Hampshire; Savannah Distributing Company in Georgia; Slocum & Sons in Connecticut; Classique Wines in Missouri; United Wine & Spirits in Texas; and RNDC in Colorado.

Focus Cognacs for the U.S. Market

Camus Elegance Range
(VS, VSOP and XO):  The Camus Elegance range introduced a distinctive new flavor profile to the world of cognac.

Highlighting the floral characteristics of Borderies, the smallest of the cognac producing regions (and in which Camus is one of the largest private landowners), the Elegance range is distinctive, elegant, and smooth.

Aged in barrels that have fewer tannins, therefore lessening the oak influence on the final blends, the range keeps and develops original personality of each eaux-de-vie composing the blend. In 2010, this specific house style was honored with several Gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The packaging, complete with innovative screwcap closures on the VS and VSOP, has won awards including a Gold Medal at the 2006 Wine & Spirit Design Awards.

Camus Borderies XO:  This single-growth cognac is based exclusively on eaux-de-vie from Camus's private stock of Borderies. A perfect illustration of Camus family know-how handed down through five generations, the sought-after Camus Borderies XO is distinctive, velvety and exceptionally aromatic.  In 2009, Camus Borderies XO was honored Best of Class award at the New York Spirit Awards.
